SIUE Students interested in applying for participation in an SIUE short term faculty led program, should contact the faculty leader for detailed course info, application deadlines, program costs, and all other details.
SIUE has a new online study abroad application process. To apply to a program, click on the "APPLY NOW" button at the top of the online program brochure page. You will need to log-in with your SIUE e-id and password. The online application is integrated with the Banner Student Information system and your name, contact info, student ID #, major(s) and minor(S), and GPA will all be populated in your application through the campus log-in.
Once you log-in, you will have a personalized page with a checklist of application pieces required for your program including an "Personal Statement" Essay, a Recommendation Form, and other requirements. You will need to complete all items on this page in order for your application to be considered complete.
To return to your application/logged-in page, simply go to the PROGRAMS page and click on the "Log-in/Register" button in the top right corner.
There are 3 phases to the study abroad process: the application phase, the post-decision/pre-departure phase, and the while abroad phase. You will need to return to your study abroad application page to complete various online forms and to receive instructions related to the faculty led study abroad program to which you have applied. Some of the forms and instructions will not be released until you have been accepted to the program.
The priority application deadline for Faculty Led Programs occurring during summer term is December 1 of the preceding year. Application deadlines for programs occurring during break periods vary. Check the program brochure for deadlines for these programs.
Students will be selected based on academic progress, the merits of their application, GPA, and other criteria as determined by faculty leaders.
Basic Eligibility Requirements for faculty-led short-term programs:
Be a currently enrolled degree seeking student at SIUE.
Possess a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better at the time of application.
Display an academic record demonstrating maturity and suitability for program participation in the interview or essay.
Be prepared to attend class or meetings on campus preceding the program travel dates.
Have a clear disciplinary history record at SIUE. Note: A disciplinary history check is required and will be completed by the Office of Student Affairs for all applicants for SIUE sponsored programs. Faculty leaders will be informed of any violations of the Student Code of Conduct or other disciplinary issues.
SIUE Short Term Faculty Led Pograms have maximum enrollment limits, and students must be selected and accepted to participate in an SIUE faculty led program. You will learn whether or not you have been accepted to participate in the program to which you have applied by accessing your online study abroad page (through your campus login). Decisions typically are not posted until AFTER the application deadline. A monetary deposit is typically due upon acceptance or shortly after.
All SIUE courses associated with faculty led short term study abroad programs require "Instructor Approval" to enroll. Students are encouraged to be mindful of registration dates so that they can register for their study abroad courses as early as possible. This is especially important for students awaiting a financial aid award for the term in which the faculty led program occurs.
Students should take the completed SIUE Class " Registration Form" signed by the faculty leader to the Service Center to enroll in the courses associated with their program. These forms are also available at the Service Center in Rendleman Hall.
