Campus Growth

SIUE is nearing the completion of a massive, more than $300 million construction and infrastructure improvement plan that already has resulted in thousands of students, faculty, staff and campus visitors enjoying numerous finished additions to campus life.

Here are a few of the projects that have enhanced the lives of those who work, study, visit and live on the SIUE campus:

Evergreen Hall Evergreen Hall - The $39.3 million, 190,000-square-foot residence hall opened in fall 2007. Home to 500 students each semester, the facility offers its residents numerous green features and supports sustainable living.
Student Success Center Student Success Center – All student needs delivered in one central location: That's what students get when they visit the modern $16.1 million Student Success Center. The facility houses academic and personal support services, optimizing the academic, service and social components of the student experience.
Early Childhood Center  SIUE Early Childhood Center Renovation and Expansion - A $2.3 million renovation and expansion has allowed the Center to increase its capacity, providing children of University families and the community with greater access to high-quality care and education. The Center also enhances the experiential learning opportunities of SIUE School of Education students.
Lukas Athletic Annex  The Charles and Mary Lukas Athletics Annex – The $4.5 million structure brings distinction to the University and excitement to campus life through supporting the highest level of intercollegiate competition. Student-athletes are a primary beneficiary of this facility. These students are engaged members of the campus and the Metro-East community. They put academics first and give back through their community service.
Art and Design Building Expansion Art & Design Building Expansion – The vibrant $9 million project provides a welcoming atmosphere for faculty, staff, students and the greater community. Anyone who visits campus will be awestruck by the distinctive beauty and openness of the structure, which centralizes the University’s art programs, including ceramics/glass, drawing, foundations, graphic design, metalsmithing, painting, photography/digital arts, printmaking, sculpture and textiles, art education, art history, and art therapy.
Science Building West  Science Building West – Home to the Departments of Chemistry, Biological Sciences and Environmental Sciences, this new structure offers an exciting mix of sustainable features, reducing the University’s carbon footprint, while providing much-needed space and state-of-the-art resources for our students. This will make our graduates even more competitive in this global economy.
Science Building West Engineering Building Addition – Every measurable indicator shows that SIUE’s School of Engineering is viable and booming. A $14.2 million expansion and renovation project offers students additional laboratory and work space that replicates industry standards, as well as opportunities to collaborate and assist on innovative research projects.
