TLTR Meeting of January 16, 2000
A Summary
The TLTR met on January from
2:00 until 3:30 p.m. in the Lovejoy Library Conference Room.
Professor Wendy Shaw presented a summary of her
research findings pertaining to faculty time utilization in an online course
and faculty time utilization within a traditional face-to-face class. Dr.
Shaw noted she spent a great deal of time preparing the class prior to
going on line. Once the classes were underway, more per capita time
was spent on the online course. Dr. Shaw noted that there was more individualized
contact with online students, more activities by students, and a general
sense that students achieved at a higher level. More students in the online
course achieved high scores on the comprehensive final than in the traditional
class.
Provost Hahs announced the following
meeting dates and times for the TLTR: February 13, March 20 and April 18
from 2:00 until 3:30 p.m. All meetings are held in the Lovejoy Library
Conference Room.
Task groups gave their reports of their ongoing
work. Progress reports will be made in February and summary reports presented
on March 20.
