The Pre-Med Association at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville was created for students interested in continuing their education following undergraduate studies in medical school. The PMA provides members with helpful tips regarding the application process (including the Medical College Admissions Test or MCAT) through speakers, tours, and the knowledge of SIUE alumni who are now attending or have graduated from medical school. The PMA allows pre-med students of various majors to meet other students seeking the same profession and to share ideas and experiences. It provides networking opportunities essential for admission to medical school and for future careers.
Only a handful of SIUE students are admitted to medical school each year, an indication of the high level of competition in applying to medical school. The PMA attempts to give members a leg-up on the competition through involvement in the medical community. |
