This is a new feature on our website where we give area medical schools an opportunity to share information about their programs and facilities. The featured school this month is our sister school, Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. The school is located in both Carbondale and Springfield. Students attend SIU-Carbondale for their first year and then move to Springfield for years 2-4. Below is information provided by Evan Wilson, Director of Admissions:
SIU School of Medicine For nearly 40 years SIU School of Medicine has been a leader in medical education. The school is known for its unique Problem-Based Learning Curriculum. Students learn in small groups of six to eight with the guidance of a faculty member. This curriculum allows for the constant integration of clinical skills and knowledge into the basic sciences. SIU medical students begin to interact with patients in the first few weeks of medical school.
