School of Business Open House: February 23, 2008
At the School of Business Open House, ELITE hosted the Student Panel. ELITE's Vice President of Programming, Holly Guth, hosted the panel. Prospective students and parents asked our ELITE representatives to share their experiences at SIUE. Parent and student responses to the student panels have been very positive, and ELITE looks forward to continuing these student panels and providing our prospective School of Business students with information to help them succeed at SIUE.
Our ELITE Alumni Co-Advisor, Tim West, hosted the Alumni Panel. Our SIUE Alum shared their college experiences with our fellow SIUE students and parents. The Alumni also shared their own personal Do's and Don'ts to be a successful college student. We've received great responses from the students and parents who attended the Alumni Panel.
New ELITE Members
In mid-February, 9 new members were selected, and the organization’s active membership moved up to 30, reaching the largest membership its ever possessed. ELITE conducted an orientation to convey the organization's mission, vission, and future activities to everyone by ELITE's Executive Board. Interim Dean Schoenecker also attended the orientation to welcome our new members to the organization.
An ELITE Social was held so that new and current members could meet face to face and get to know each other. ELITE conducts membership socials once-a-month to continue to better build and sustain better relationships and networks

Enterprise Rent-A-Car December Award Winner: Tim West
The winner of the December 2007 Enterprise Rent-A-Car Leadership Award is Tim West. Congratulations!
Interim Dean Schoenecker, Tim West, and Lee Lewis from Enterprise Rent-A-Car
Tim West is a Business Administration graduate from Peoria, Illinois. As a student, he worked at WSIE 88.7 FM on campus as well as for the Development Office for the School of Business. After graduation, Tim would like to be a Foreign Service Officer for the U.S. State Department. To prepare for this, Tim has learned Chinese.
Tim's advice for business school students is: "Inside class, take the time to stand out and be prepared for every class--the readings, the assignments, etc... You'll be a standout student if you are informed and can be able to discuss the topics in class. Outside of class, get involved wherever you can and find an outlet to practice the skills you are learning in class. "
Tim still plays an active role in ELITE as our ELITE Alumni co-advisor. Tim currently has an internship with AT&T Regional Marketing Vice President, Lendell Phelps. We wish all the best for Tim West in reaching his goals and future accomplishments.
