- Silkscreening will be done early next semester.
This semester was very busy, and we were unable to get the screens
prepared. Flyers will be posted to announce when the silkscreening will be
done.
- The chemistry club has purchased more letterhead
for use in sending out official letters.
- The abstract for the ACS national meeting poster
has been submitted. It is necessary to apply for funding for the trip as
soon as possible to ensure that Kimmel can provide money for the trip.
Will and Mariellen have volunteered to attend the meeting. Kimmel will pay
one personŐs room and travel expenses. The person for whom the funding has
been requested has to go; after the paperwork goes through, we cannot
change the person whom we send and still use the funding. If more than one
person attends, they can share certain expenses provided by Kimmel (such
as sharing a rental car), but the additional person or persons will have
to pay for their own plane ticket and other individual costs.
- The Mentors program hosted SIUE graduates
working at Sigma Aldrich this week. There was a great turnout, and we have
contacts for setting up a tour. The tentative date of the tour is December
2, 2005. A tour of Anheuser-Busch is being looked into for next semester.
- The Christmas/Holiday party will be held at Dr.
EilersŐ house this year. Volunteers are needed for set up and some
pre-party shopping.
- The lock arrived, but is not the right size for
the door. A new lock will be coming shortly. To use, the code set by the
club is entered. The green light will flash, and you will be able to turn
the handle and open the door.
- The club has decided that active members only
will have access to the room. Access is granted to: club officers, club
members who are ACS student affiliates, and club members participating in
3 events a semester. Setting up for or planning an event, even if the
student does not attend the event, counts. We will be installing a
computer and a printer in the room. The purpose of the printer is to print
off chem. club fliers, and other official letters. If it is abused, then
we will have to restrict access to club officers only. Internet access
will be available on the computer for any active member to use.
