The seventh 2006-2007 SIUE Chemistry Club meeting was held Friday, February 2, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chemistry Club Room (SL 1107).  The present officers included Mariellen Sydow, Dave Herrmann, and Crystal Hise.  All active members received the access code to the Chemistry Club Room.

Old business began with the Anheuser-Busch tour scheduled for Friday, February 16, 2007, at 1:00 and 2:30 p.m.  A final attendance count is due to Anheuser-Busch today.  There is a scheduled P-chem exam that day, but if the exam is moved more people may be able to attend.

Probst Lecture will be held Monday, March 19th, 2007.  Six more people may attend a luncheon at 12:00 or 12:30 p.m. on the day of Probst with the guest lecturer.  Dinner choices for the event will be baked salmon, beef strip steak, angel hair pasta, and chicken marsala.  Volunteers are still needed to provide high school and middle school students with a tour of the Science Building.

Another silk-screening session will be held March 16, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. during the chemistry club meeting.  Someone needs to ask Dr. Shaw to assist in making the silk screens since Dr. Wiediger will be out of town.

There will be a CVS training session held on Tuesday, February 6, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. in SL 1107.  Contact Dave Herrmann for more information.  Everyone is welcome.

New business began with the spring book/bake sale scheduled for February 12-14, 2007, from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  Thank you to Jaclyn Cofield who organized the event.  Workers are needed to man the table and donate baked goods.  Also, Mariellen needs assistance in organizing the storage room and discarding outdated books from previous book sales.

A volunteer is needed to make flyers for the vendor glass show, which will be held February 22, 2007, in the chemistry tutor room.

A canned food drive will be held March 26-28, 2007. Thank you to Brian Moore for organizing this event.  We would like to have a table if enough volunteers will be available to help.

The pentathlon is scheduled for April 5, 2007, from 5:30 – 10:00 p.m.; however, the Vadalabene Center is reserved for the entire month of April.  Instead of reserving the entire gym for the evening we may have to rotate through multiple rooms for the evening.  Thank you to Dawn Powell for organizing the event.

A volunteer is needed to reserve the softball field for our annual student-versus-faculty softball game on April 21, 2007.

Dr. Johnson will be contacted to host the annual spring BBQ again this April.

Meetings for the Spring 2007 semester will be held on the first and third Fridays of each month at 1:30 p.m.  Our next meeting will be held Friday, March 2, 2007, at 1:30 p.m.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:20 p.m.
