International Week
The International Week and International Night are the ISC’s presentation of the world to SIUE’s campus. During the International Week, we invite professional groups from the regions to perform ethnic music/dances. Various SIUE student organizations participate in exhibit and display of their culture through artifacts, costumes and others.Indeed, children from the local elementary and middle schools are invited to SIUe during the IW events. We also have the Food Festival where we will be giving out food samples from different countries to everyone.
Programming Committee (Chairs: Mukta Puri (mpuri@siue.edu); Shakti Banwat (sbanwat@siue.edu))
Coordinate all aspects of the entertainment for IW. Since the performers have already been chosen, the coordinator will have to make sure all the contracts have been sent to the performers, contact the performers the week before IW to give them information about location, parking, and time. Also, this committee will be liasons between the performers and the tech services in setting up the performers requirments.
Boothe Committee (Chairs: Zeynep Hamurdan (zhamurd@siue.edu); Jack Bowens (jackbowens1@yahoo.co.uk))
Coordinate all liasons between ISC and International Organisations participating during IW. The committee will work with his/her committee to decide about the loaction and set up for each booth, and Audio.video requirements.
Ambassador Committee (Chairs: Mary Clabaugh (mclabau@siue.edu), Kader Hadjsaid (ahadjsa@siue.edu))
The Ambassador Committee will be in charge of promoting IW/IN to local schools. There are instructions available through last year's chair and the ISS Office.
The Ambassador will contact local schools and arrange for:
a- A class visit; a few International Students might go and promote diversity.
b- A field trip for the middle school students to come and visit SIUE during IW.
The AC will also need to help entertain middle school students during the IW.
Publicity (Chairs: Torrie (towu@siue.edu); Leah Scherwinski (lscherw@siue.edu))
The Publicity committee will work on designing flyers/Alestle ads, and promote by emails and other advertisements. They will also coordinate the promotion of handbill flyers(seperate from the IW flyers) during IW. These handbills should be distributed by the publicity committee members all day during IW.More details are available at the ISS Office and at the Kimmel Leadership Office.
Public Relations(Chairs: Bailey Doddigarla (bdoddig@siue.edu); Dustin Walls (dwalls@siue.edu); Yonatan Gebre (ygebre@siue.edu))
The PR committee is responsible for (i) deciding recipes for IW's Food Festival, (ii) finding neighboring restaurants that provide the food samples, (iii) asking for co-sponsorships from the same restaurants. This committee also schedule interviews during IW with Alton Telegraph, St. Louis Post Dispatch, Edwardsville Intelligencer, The Alestle, and Belliville News Democrat. Event Coordinator(Chairs: Unnati Shah (ushah@siue.edu))
The co-ordinator will work other student volunteers, ISC, IW programming committee, CAB, MUC, Tech Services, IW committees, and Artists, to make sure the event is running smoothly. The co-ordinator will need to contact David Attaway(Kimmel) who will help with setting up the area and tables.
