The Gamma Alpha Chapter of Delta Phi Epsilon was chartered April 18, 1998. The Gamma Alpha Chapter was founded by the Daughters of the Emerald, also called the DOES, with help from the Sigma Pi Fraternity to receive the official charter.

DPhiE was found on the 5 S's which are:

Sisterhood: Organization knowledge and skills

Scholarship: Academic, Career, Lifestyle Skills and Planning

Service: Community and Societal Awareness and Involvement

Social: Communication, Leadership, and Social Development

Self: Physical, Emotional, and Personal Development

Each semester every sister is required to complete 10 pearls (2 sisterhood, 2 scholarship, etc.) in order to be in good standing with the sorority and be able to participate in all social events. Once a year a sister is required to complete a Personal Development Pearl (PDP) in order to reach the total of 21 pearls per year.
