Submitting
an
Essay
The Editors and their
Advisory
Board welcome the submission of papers on literary history, theory, and
interpretation, as well as original materials such as letters,
journals,
and notebooks. Contributors should follow The MLA Style Manual
(2008); manuscripts should be free of all identifying information. Two
copies must be submitted; only one copy will be returned. Submissions
must not be under consideration elsewhere. PLL does not publish
unsolicited book reviews.
Submissions may also be
made electronically. Address messages to
pll@siue.edu and include the word "Submission" followed by a
shortened
title in the subject line. Attach the essay in the form of a PDF file.
Include an
abstract of no more than 150 words in the body of the e-mail. Also
include
a postal mailing address and a phone number.
Authors of accepted
submissions will be asked to furnish a copy in
the
form of a Microsoft Word file via email attachment. Unless a manuscript
is accompanied by a stamped,
self-addressed envelope, it cannot be returned to the author.
All submissions and other
correspondence on editorial matters
should be sent to the Editors, PLL, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville,
Edwardsville, IL 62026-1434, or pll@siue.edu.
I'd
like to add
something here like "helpful tips": if your essay includes a foreign
language, include a translation into English; use American English; try
to avoid "in this essay I will" and other uses of the first person; if
you have only referred to a source
and not cited something specific from it, include the bibliographic
information in a footnote, not on the Works Cited page, etc. What would that be called?
