LOVEJOY LIBRARY TITLE/RANK: Dean of Library and Information Services DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The Dean is the chief academic and administrative officer of Lovejoy Library and reports directly to the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. SIUE seeks a progressive, accomplished, service-oriented Dean. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to create innovative services and programs. In addition, the new Dean will inspire and lead Lovejoy Library's contributions to the University renewed commitment to excellence, as it celebrates its fiftieth anniversary. The Dean manages and guides all library operations including faculty and staff performance and development, administration of all policies and procedures established by the Library, and facilitating communication between all Library constituencies; advocates for Lovejoy Library's interests at SIUE and nationally, regionally, and locally in professional organizations and consortia; proactively seeks external support in collaboration with The Friends of Lovejoy Library, Library Director of Development, and the Division of University Relations; and develops and carries out strategic plans to support the campus mission and vision. TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: 12 months. Percent of appointment 100%. SOURCE OF FUNDS: State SALARY RANGE: Competitive and commensurate with qualifications, experience and responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Master's degree from an ALA accredited institution or its international equivalent; second master's degree or Ph.D. preferred. Minimum of five years experience as a progressively responsible, academic library administrator. Evidence of substantial leadership and achievement in an academic library. Record of service to the profession and evidence of scholarly achievement as appropriate for achieving rank and tenure. Demonstrated ability to cultivate an organizational culture based upon respect, service, open communication, teamwork, personal and professional growth, and accountability.
