HIRING UNIT:       COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES
                            DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE

TITLE/RANK:     Assistant Professor of English:  English Education

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:     Teaching methods courses in literature and composition, field supervision and mentoring of student teachers during their student teaching assignments, advising students in the secondary English education program, teaching general education and upper-level English courses, possibly graduate courses.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT:      Tenure-track contract for academic year beginning August 16, 2008; summer teaching may be available.

SOURCE OF FUNDS:    State

SALARY RANGE:      Commensurate with experience and credentials.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:       Tenure-track specialist in secondary English education.  Ph.D. in English, English Education, or related field required.  A demonstrated interest in literature, language, composition, and pedagogy.  Teaching experience required, including experience with middle or high school students.  If Ph.D. is not completed by the beginning of the contract period, appointment will be at rank of Instructor until all requirements are fulfilled.
