Job Title: City Manager

Description:   Located in beautiful Northwest Montana the City of Kalispell is recruiting for a City Manager who has excellent communication skills, is an innovative thinker, and team leader with demonstrated leadership qualities who can work with a City Council form of government. Kalispell, which is ranked in the top three fastest growing towns in Montana with a growing population of 20, 000, is located in the Flathead Valley (population over 80,000) just 35 miles from Glacier National Park and just minutes north of Flathead Lake (the largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi).

The new city manager will lead a committed staff of more than 185 full-time employees with a total operating budget of over $53M. Kalispell provides a full range of municipal services including police; fire; community development, public works including sanitation & solid waste collection, community services including parks and recreation, youth activities. The successful candidate will be an inclusive and communicative leader with excellent administration skills, and a collaborative open management style.
Requirements:  Five (5) years experience as a successful manager of a multifunctional 100 employee minimum organization: history of ability to efficiently and effectively administer a municipal government is preferred. A BS degree in a related field is required and a MA/MS degree is preferred.

Job Title: Village Administrator
Agency:  Village of Kronenwetter

Description:   Functions as the chief administrative and operations officer of the Village.

• Responsible for overall administration of Village operations and leadership of 23 employees as well as development and management of the Village’s annual operating, utility, and capital budgets ($4.6 million).
• General Management including personnel management, budgeting, strategic planning, and economic development with TIF experience.
• Prepares or directs preparation of administrative policies and procedures and enforces all Village policies and procedures in order to ensure standardized and efficient operations.
• Promotes, in all actions and activities, the Village’s economic well-being and growth.
• Provides administrative oversight, direction, and support to all departments including Public Safety departments, except in the statutory authority of the Police and Fire Commission.
• Provides information, administrative advice and general support to Village Board and all Commissions and Committees, either personally or through a staff designee.
• With the Board, establishes annual objectives for the Village and periodically reports on progress toward those objectives.
• Manages all HR functions including development and enforcement of policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements.
• Administers and monitors the budget and ensures that all basic financial plans approved by the Village Board are carried out on an ongoing basis.
• Functions as the Public Information Officer for all external communications.
Requirements:  Requires two or more years of management experience, including personnel management, budgeting, strategic planning, and economic development with TIF experience strongly desired. Prefer two or more years of management experience in municipal government with a history of increasing responsibility.

Bachelor’s degree required, and master’s degree in public administration/related field preferred.

Requirements:  Requirements include Bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration, Government, Urban Planning or related field. Municipal experience preferred. Master’s degree in public or business administration is preferred. Significant relevant experience may substitute for educational qualifications. There is a residency requirement.
