Graduate school can be financed with assistantships, fellowships and financial aid...
Assistantships are available from the department and pay a monthly stipend plus a full tuition waiver.  These assistantships are awarded on a competitive basis to students interested in attending graduate school full time and in working for the department 20 hours a week.  The work of a graduate assistantship in the department of Public Administration involves tutoring students, working with faculty on research projects, and participating in public service activities.
Qualified students may also apply to the Graduate School for a Competitive Graduate Award fellowship which carries a stipend for the academic year and a full tuition waiver. Students should apply for this award the year before they plan on attending Graduate School.  There are a limited number of awards made across the entire campus.  Students considering this award should have an exceptional grade point average.
Financial aid for graduate students includes Graduate Scholar Awards for minority students, Illinois fellowships, grants, and loans. Inquire at the Graduate School about these awards.
