The river delights to lift us free,
if only we dare to let go.
Our true work is this voyage,
This Adventure.

A collection of student writing about rivers.
Since 1990, students in the Rivers Project have used their adopted rivers as the subjects of poems, short stories, social and natural history investigations and scientific research papers. Writing for "Meanderings" gives students the opportunity to see the work of colleagues, as well as their own, published and available for students in the future.

Several editions may be published on yearly. Rivers of the United States is a collection of student thoughts, ideas, and experiences from around the country. The Rivers of Illinois edition is dedicated to the rivers of the Prairie State.

Copies of past and current editions may be accessed from Rivers Project school libraries, federal depository libraries, or the Library of Congress. “Meanderings” may also be ordered from the Rivers Project.

Submissions from schools may be made via e-mail to the Rivers Project or mailed to:
The Rivers Project,

Box 2222,

Submissions are open to all students and should include: author, school, address, and date information. Writing should be submitted as hardcopy and on a 3.5-inch disk.
