Audition information for

Community Choral Society
Concert Choir
Madrigal Singers
Treble Chorus
Who needs to audition?
All singers need to audition, except those singers participating in Choral Society for no credit.  Singers interested in Choral Society and Treble Chorus will need to  match pitch, demonstrate tonal memory, exhibit a concept of breath and vowels with no tension, and minimal sightreading.  The selection process is more stringent for Concert Choir and Madrigal Singers.

When can I audition?
Auditions will be held the first two days of classes, August 20 & 21,  or by appointment

Where are the auditions?
Dr. Knapp's office, Dunham Hall, room 1105

Do I need to bring a prepared piece?
Singers don't need to prepare anything for the auditions.  Singers are asked to bring a completed Audition Form to the audition. (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader-download here)

What will I do in the auditions?

The audition format for these four ensembles are the same, but will vary in length and depth depending upon the ensemble.

Auditions for Community Choral Society, Concert Choir, Madrigal Singers, and Treble Chorus are relatively painless.  Singers do not need to bring anything prepared.  Singers are asked to bring a completed Audition Form to the audition (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader-download here).  Ensembles that are more selective will require a more in-depth audition.  Auditions may include:

  • Vocalization
  • Range Analysis
  • Tonal Memory
  • Intonation Exercises
  • Sight-reading
