The lesson will begin with the teacher handing out and describing any career inventory. (For example, Choices Jr. Activities Checklist by Hunan Resources Development in Canada) |

Following the teacher’s explanation, the students will complete and tally their individual checklist. |

Next, the class will use the Children’s Occupational Outlook Handbook 2nd Edition to search for occupations which match their career fields. The research will be based on the career inventory. The student’s will be asked to identify five occupations that seem to interest them. The children will look into the job description, outlook, education needed, average earnings, working conditions, related jobs, subjects needed to study, and places to observe for each of the five. |
