The teacher will begin by asking the class to write character traits about themselves. |
|
|
Next, the teacher will hand out and explain the Holland’s Hexagon or similar diagram. The diagram describes six kinds of people: realistic, investigative, artistic, social, enterprising, and conventional. |

At this point the students will discover their interests by completing an interest inventory. For example, the Leisure Search Inventory by John J.Liptak or any other interest survey. (Leisure Search Inventory by John J.Liptak may be purchased by calling 1-317-264-3720). |

With the teacher’s assistance, the students will score their own survey. Then, the teacher will introduce and explain the Children’s Occupational Outlook Handbook 2nd Edition. |

|
To familiarize the children with the handbook, the teacher will assign Matching and Related Occupations activities from the Children’s Occupational Outlook Handbook. |
|
|
Students will be assessed by the Matching and Related Occupations activities. The two assignments will enable students to familiarize themselves with knowledge of various occupations |
