Language Arts - Writing and Oral: Day 1

Objectives:

bullet

Students will identify district-wide character education words of the month for the school year.

bullet

Students will generate one positive event/representation for each word (respect, responsibility, peace, empathy, integrity, honesty, perseverance, cooperation and self-discipline).

Students will work cooperatively in-groups and vote for the best event/representation.

Procedures:

bullet

This lesson will require one 50-minute work session.

bullet

Students will identify district-wide character education words of the month.

bullet

Students will be given a nine-lined worksheet with district-wide character education words of the month listed. Students will divide work in-groups of five.

bullet

The teacher will select a group leader.

bullet

Students will discuss events that represent each word of the month.

bullet

Groups will vote for the best example given.

bullet

They will write the voted best situation on their worksheets using complete sentences. Leaders of the group will reader their best example.

Assessment:

bullet

Students will complete individual worksheet by writing complete sentences to describe the voted daily-living situation.
