A Novel Study 

Day 3

Objective:

	Students will have heard the chapter read aloud during “read aloud’ time.
	Students will use the computer lab to complete an online research project for creating a “Wanted Poster” for a character study of Kissin’ Kate.

Illinois Learning Standards:

	l.B.3a Preview reading materials, make predictions and relate reading to information from other sources.
	1.C.3d Summarize and make generalizations from content and relate them to the purpose of the material
	2.B.3c Analyze how characters in literature deal with conflict, solve problems and relate to real-life situations.
	3C3b Using available technology, produce composition and multimedia works for specified audiences.
	4B.3b Design and produce reports and multimedia compositions that represent group projects.
	5.C.2a Create a variety of print and nonprint documents to communicate acquired information for specific audiences and purposes.

Materials:

	Copies of the book Holes by Louis Sachar for each student.
	Poster board paper for each student with markers and a variety of drawing materials.
	In the computer lab, log on to the Welcome to Camp Green Lake web site: http://www.bgcs.k12.oh.us/kramp/wanted%20poster.htm and each student will begin the webquest.

Procedures:

	After reading the chapter, discuss the personality of Kissin’ Kate in small groups. List a few of her character traits on the board. In the computer room log on to the web site http://www.bgcs.k12.oh.us/kramp/wanted%20poster.htm.
	After digging up some old information about old Wanted posters, the student will create their own Wanted poster for Kissin’ Kate.
