Causes of the Revolutionary War

  1. Listen as I read parts of Liberty! How the Revolutionary War Began by Lucille Recht Penner.  As I read it, think about the different events that led up to the Revolutionary war.

  2. After I read the book I will split you into groups of 4.  You will discuss the events I talked about in the book with your group members.  Be sure to talk about events and what order they went in and why these events led to the Revolutionary War.

  3. I will assign each group a certain event that led to the war and you will do research in your text book about that event. The events will include the Stamp Act, the Sugar Act, the Quartering Act, the Boston Tea Party, the Boston Massacre, and the “Shot Heard ‘Round the World.  You will write 5 facts about this event down.  Be sure to include dates and causes and effects.

  4. After writing down five facts about the event, each student in the group will draw a picture of the event using crayons or markers.

  5. Each group will present their illustrations and facts about the event to the class.
