Cloze Procedures

The use of a piece of writing in which certain words have been deleted and the pupil have to make maximum possible use of context clues available in predicting the missing words.

The most familiar version involves deleting every 5th word in a passage of about 250 words. Leave the first sentence and the last sentence intact.

Selected Deletions

Delete words to teach a particular instructional goal. I.e. signal words, first, second, then, next.
