John Rider Graduate Student Achievement Award Eligibility: Full-time graduate student in the Department of Mass Communications. Student must be fully admitted to the department's degree programming. Students are nominated by all members of the Mass Communications faculty Criteria: Criteria: 1. Maintain a 3.5 GPA 2. Show potential and inclination for significant contribution to the field of Mass Communications. Student should exhibit a thorough understanding of mass communications theory and research. 3. Extra consideration will be given to students who share Dr. Rider's enthusiasm for the study of global mass media systems and education. Procedure: 1. Call for nominations should be distributed one month prior to the Alumni Evening Party. 2. Graduate Faculty members and Dr. Rider vote on the recipient for the Eligible nominees. 3. John Rider (or appointed substitute) will present the plaque and cash award to the recipient during the Alumni Evening party. A second plaque will be placed in the Mass Communications’ office which will bear the nameplate of each year's recipient.
