Terry Ganey ’70 is the projects editor for the Columbia Tribune. In 2008, he earned a master’s degree from the Missouri School of Journalism. He is a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and the author of two New York Times bestsellers. In his SIUE days, Ganey worked as the sports editor of the Alestle.

Robert Kochan ’72 was inducted into the St. Louis Media Hall of Fame for public relations/advertising. He is president of Kochan & Company Advertising and Marketing in St. Louis

Dewayne Staats ’75 has been honored with a scholarship in his name. The scholarship was established by fellow SIUE mass communications graduate John Klobnak. Staats is the voice of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

Megan Lynch ’92, Mass Communications Department Alumni Association President, had a baby boy at the beginning of 2009.

Rebecca (Fines) Hunter ’81 has been named the chief development officer of the Cancer Wellness Center in Northbrook, Ill. Her book, “Sherlock the Circus Dog,” is available under her pen name, Alyssa Angelo.

Patrick Graney ’83 is a teacher in the Francis Howell School District in St. Charles, Mo. His book “The Flying Razor-Toothed Spider” was recently published.

Chad Mahoney ’97 has been appointed news director at WGEM-TV/Radio in Quincy, Ill.

Kayci Combs ’03 is a volunteer coordinator for Alternative Hospice in St. Louis. In 2006, she earned a licensed massage therapy certification. She is an Illinois IBA 2004-2005 Silver Dome winner and won the designation of Best Local Show in a small market for the program “Kayci’s Oldies Jukebox” on Q106 FM.

“Though I am not in the field, the skills I learned while at SIUE are most definitely utilized,” Combs said.

Ling (King) Rimmert ’05 is the director of marketing and communications for the United Way of Cumberland County in Fayetteville, N.C. She also serves on the board of directors for the Fayetteville Animal Protection Society, a non-profit animal shelter.
