EDWARDSVILLE CAMPUS~NEW TRASH/RECYCLING SCHEDULE

Building occupants who were on campus over the summer are well aware of the changes in trash/recycling pick up.  Trash is now picked up every other week, recycling picked up every other week as well.  The schedule is as follows: October 1, 15 and 29, November 12 and 26, and December 10 are weeks when recycling is picked up; October 8 and 22, November 5 and 19, and December 3 and 17 are weeks for picking up trash.  Any questions should be directed to Steve Brandenburg at extension 2069.

OK, WE’RE ALERT, WE’RE ALERT!

As usual, on the first Tuesday of the month, Tuesday, October 2, 2007, civil defense and fire alarms were tested.  However, Dunham Hall occupants were REALLY tested when the alarm got stuck and droned on and on and on…  Building engineers struggled for nearly 15 minutes and were finally able to shut the alarm off, investigate and correct the problem.  This was truly a situation where FM appreciated the patience of building occupants!

MOVING OF THE COUGAR~OCTOBER, 2007

Although it may have seemed so, the huge Cougar statue recently unveiled didn’t appear by magic.  FM workmen were hard at work before dawn to prepare for the unveiling.  Check out pictures of the preparation for, moving, and unveiling of the new Cougar statue; visit:  WWW.siue.edu/FACILITIES/.  To move to the next picture, click on the arrow in the upper right.

ALL CAMPUSES~WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF A NATURAL GAS LEAK

FM’s Ed Matecki, Assistant Director for Utilities, asked that the following information be shared with the University Community (hoping, of course, it is information they will never need):

DO NOT:

Operate any electrical devices or switches.

Turn on any lights.

Use any matches.

Use the telephone.

Turn on the television or radio.

Use cellular phones or pages.

DO:

Evacuate the premises.

Leave the door open on the way out.

Leave the area if outside.

IMMEDIATELY:  Go to the nearest phone and call Facilities Management at 3711 (or 911 after hours) to report the leak.

Stay away until the fire department or gas operator says it is safe to return.

ALL CAMPUSES~CHARGE OUT WORK

When faxing Service Requisitions to Facilities Management, FM requests that departments keep the originals for their records; when originals follow a faxed copy two or three days later, it results in confusion.  As always, FM appreciates the cooperation of the Campus community.
