Please note important changes below.

Since its founding in 1960, Sou'wester has published outstanding writers, both established and new. We publish poems, short stories, creative non-fiction, and interviews. To submit work for consideration, please observe the following guidelines.

We are now open for POETRY submissions.

Note: we will not be reading FICTION or NONFICTION again until January 1, 2010.

Please limit your submission to a maximum of five poems at a time.

Please limit your submission of prose to one piece at a time. We will consider a suite of two or three flash fictions.

WE ARE NOW ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS THROUGH OUR ONLINE JOURNAL MANAGER SYSTEM.

The new system is actually quite simple to navigate, yet because it was designed for use by both creative and scholarly journals, some of the steps are not applicable to Sou'wester sumbissions and initially may be a bit confusing. We hope the detailed instructions in the PDF file provided HERE will clear up any questions you might have.

Please note that this is now our preferred manner of submission. We believe that it will enhance our efficiency, enabling us to respond to your work more quickly. Although it will take you a few minutes to register and navigate through the system, online submission is free, ecologically sound, and allows you to monitor your submission. Thank you for your patience and for sharing your work with us.

Click HERE to go directly to the online journal manager. You will begin the process by registering.

We accept simultaneous submissions. Please notify us immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere.

We publish only original, previously unpublished work.
.
Payment: Accepted authors will receive 2 copies of the issue in which their work appears, as well as a year's subscription to Sou'wester.

IIf you must use the regular mail system, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope. We regret that we cannot respond to your submission if we do not receive an SASE with adequate postage. Please note that it may take us longer to respond to these submission.
