Last Orange Leaf
![]()
passing through
this crazy world
as truth spirals
into insanity
I find you
and me
and in us
there is
redemption
and hearts are
blurred as one and
your eyes shine
like beacons for my
loneliness and
the warehouse of
my heart is filled
with the warmth of
a possibility
and reality becomes
fantasy and
lost in my
mind
with thoughts of
you that linger
like the last orange
leaf that clings to the branch
before the first
snow that drives us
into ourselves
with thoughts
of the spring that
will never come
and I care for you
as a gardener over
his prized flower and
we connect and
you hesitate
scorned by those
that have hurt you
with their thoughtless
words that cannot
describe the explosion
of life in me
brought on by
the eternal summer inyou on the beach with
your hair caught
in a slight breeze
and I brush
the gentle hair
from your eyes that
show me your
soul
with a curious
partner next to
it who is strangely
familiar to me
and I give you
my coat as protection
from the coming fall
and together
we pass through
this world
and travel down
the path I thought
I knew has become
the truth
born in you in
your eyes under
your skin between
your lips in
your embrace and
I know nothing
other than the
happiness of the
last orange leaf
which will grow
anew in a season
fast approaching and
we will be one and
blossom into a
tree along the spiraling
path
