Biography
Mr. Banks came to SIUE in March of 1994 to serve as the Assistant
to the Dean. He is esponsible for managing School of Engineering
programs and initiatives for student recruitment and retention
with emphasis on the recruitment and retention of minority
and women students. He collaborates with the College of Arts
and Sciences to develop and carry out coordinated recruitment
and retention activities for students within the quantitative
academic programs and coordinates efforts with the Office
of Admissions for recruitment activities. He is responsible
for the Engineering and Science Pre-College Program and the
Midwest Engineering and Science Academy Pre-College Program.
Prior to coming to SIUE, he was heavily involved in minority
and women recruitment for five years at SIU Carbondale, worked
in the communications industry for several years, and served
in the United States Marine Corps. Commissioned a Lieutenant
(03) in the Naval Reserves in 1991. In addition to his many
other responsibilities, Ron serves as an instructor in Industrial
and Manufacturing Engineering.
