Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering – CAD, CAM and CAE (3) (3,0) (IME 475)

475-3 CAD, CAM and CAE

Advanced 3-D solid and assembly modeling in computer-integrated design and manufacturing environments, parametric and associative modeling, sketch modeling. Prerequisite: 375 or consent of instructor.

Professional Component:

This course introduces computer-aided product design with components of engineering analysis and manufacturing to senior-level engineering students.  The course is an engineering topics course with significant engineering design content.

 

 

Course Outcomes

Students successfully completing this course will have the ability to:

 

1.   Build complex 3-D models efficiently using high-level sketching.

2.   Create 3-D assembly models using three different approaches and part families.

3.   Apply different parametric and associative modeling skills within individual parts and between components in an assembly in order to capture design intent.

4.   Perform basic computer aided manufacturing and analysis (CAM/CAE) using 3-D models.
