    Dr. Sinan Onal is an Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville. He received his Ph.D. degree in Industrial and Management Systems Engineering from University of South Florida. His current research focuses on medical image processing and its applications, medical product development, machine learning and data mining, and manufacturing and R&D strategy. His works have appeared in scholarly journals such as IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics and International Journal of Urogynecology. In addition, he has presented in high quality conferences such as Institute for Operation Research and Management Sciences (INFORMS), IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC), and Information Science and Signal Processing and their Applications (ISSPA). He has one international patent on “Universal Laparoscopic Suturing Device” and one patent application on “Image-based Automated Measurement Model to Predict Pelvic Organ Prolapse”. Additionally, he worked twelve years in industry for several companies in a range of positions and departments. Dr. Onal has extensive experience on new product development.
