Tenure-track Faculty Position, Construction Management
The Department of Construction at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position. The position will be available August 16, 2008.
Candidates must have an earned Ph.D. in construction management, civil engineering, or closely related field before the appointment date. Highly qualified applicants with a master’s degree and at least 5 years management experience in the U.S. construction industry may be considered for appointment as a full-time instructor while pursuing the Ph.D. A new cooperative Ph.D. program in engineering with SIU Carbondale is available. Management experience in the U.S. construction industry, and professional certification or licensure is desirable. Selection criteria will emphasize finding the best qualified candidate with the ability to teach a variety of courses in the program; however, expertise in the areas of MEP systems or surveying is desired. Responsibilities include undergraduate instruction, academic advisement, public service and research. It is anticipated that the appointment will be made at the Assistant Professor level, but rank and salary are dependent on qualifications and experience. The construction program is accredited by the American Council for Construction Education, and a Land Surveying Specialization was recently approved by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. The department is housed in the School of Engineering. Construction faculty members are encouraged to perform research with engineering graduate students and serve on thesis committees. SIUE is a comprehensive state university of 13,500 students, located in the St. Louis metropolitan area.
