SEMINARS

ITRC has sponsored a number of seminars and roundtables on topics related to all modes of transportation as a means of generating potential research topics and facilitating the exchange of ideas between public agency personnel and university researchers.  Past seminar topics include Bridge Research (April 30, 1993), Traffic Congestion (May 12, 1993), Traffic Safety (July 27, 1994), Environmental Issues in Transportation (November 7, 1995), Improving Freight Logistics (February 13, 1997), and Improving Public Mass Transit (November 6, 1997).  In April 2000 and January 2002, IDOT sponsored a Research Outreach at the University of Illinois Springfield for the purpose of generating new research problem statements on a variety of timely issues.

On November 21, 2003, ITRC and IDOT are co-sponsoring a seminar on Nighttime Construction Issues on the campus of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.  The seminar present the results of three recently completed ITRC research projects dealing with nighttime highway construction.  For more information or to register for the seminar, visit www.siue.edu/CE, call (618) 650-3210, or email coned@siue.edu.
