ILLINOIS TRANSPORTATION RESEARCH CENTER

 

Welcome

The Illinois Transportation Research Center (ITRC) is a joint public-private-University cooperative transportation research unit underwritten by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).  The purpose of the Center is “the conduct of research in all modes of transportation to provide the knowledge and technology base to improve the capacity to meet the present and future mobility needs of individuals, industry, and commerce of the State of Illinois.”  The research conducted by the Center includes short-term applied research in support of sponsor needs.  It also includes basic research aimed at providing new tools, technology, materials, policy, and analysis techniques for the solution of structural problems inherent in current modes of transportation, as well as emergent problems in their use.
