Most SIUE students are from Illinois. Approximately 48
percent come from Madison and St. Clair counties; 8 percent come from Missouri;
the remainder come from 100 other counties in Illinois, 46 other states or U.S.
possessions, and 65 foreign countries. SIUEs 2002 fall semester
enrollment, including undergraduate and graduate students on and off campus,
was 12,708.

The average ACT composite score for new first-time freshmen
has averaged 21.9 in recent years. Nearly 1/3 of new freshmen were in the upper 20
percent of their high school class, and more than 3/4 ranked in the upper
half.
Although the mean age of full-time undergraduate students is 21, many over 25 enroll in the University after beginning their
families and careers. Among full-time enrolled graduate students, the mean age
is 27.1, while among part-time students, the mean age is 33.6. Forty-three
percent of all graduate students are 30 years or older. Of the 2,732
graduate students, 65 percent are enrolled part time, 61 percent are female, 23
percent are minorities, and 13 percent are international students. |
