Prior to joining the SIUE faculty, Dr. Hackard completed his Ph.D.
in Finance from the University of Texas at San Antonio, following
a 30 year career as a life insurance company actuary. He began his
Ph.D. study after retiring from USAA Life Insurance Company in San
Antonio. He also worked as an actuary for American United Life Insurance
Company of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Dr. Hackard has published in Journal of Futures Markets and Review
of Financial and Quantitative Accounting, His current research interest
is in market microstructure, market volatility and life insurance.
