Prior to joining the SIUE faculty, Dr. Ault taught courses as an
NDEA Fellow at the University of Illinois. In 1975, he received
the AMOCO Teaching Excellence Award. In 1988, he received a scholarship
to study at the George Mason Center for Law and Economics. In Summer
1997, he was a visiting scholar at the Monterrey Institute of Technology-Campus
Toluca. He was Associate Dean for Graduate Programs from 1979 to
1988, and Dean of the School of Business from 1988 to 1995. He was
Acting Director of Libraries in Fall 1995. In Summer 2000, he helped
to establish the Institute for Urban Research and served as Associate
Director and Director of Research from 2000 to 2002.
Dr. Ault has served as a consultant to the Monsanto Company, St.
Joseph Hospital of Highland, Illinois, Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance
Center, A. O. Smith Corporation, the Granite City Division of the
National Steel Corporation, Clark Oil and Refining Company, the
Illinois State Board of Education, the Illinois Community College
Board, and several small businesses. He has provided damage estimates
in approximately 250 injury, discrimination, breach of contract,
and anti-trust cases.
Dr. Aults research has been published in The American
Economic Review Papers and Proceedings, Economic Inquiry,
The Journal of Law and Economics, Oxford Economic Papers,
Research in Law and Economics, and The Review of Economics
and Statistics. His current research interests include the analysis
of individual supply curves of labor, especially married women,
the determinants of the returns to education, and the effects of
common law on economic efficiency. His international experience
includes work in China, Cuba, Mexico, Russia, Southern Africa, and
most of the countries of Western Europe.
