The Office of Economic Education and Business Research serves several purposes.
As a resource for improving the understanding and teaching of economics,
the Office is a leader in the development of courses and materials for use
by teachers in the grades K-12. We have conducted a number of workshops
and seminars on economic education that improve the delivery and content
of economics courses for K-12 classes. The Office also assists local schools
with developing and maintaining economic education programs. The Office’s
educational activities also go beyond primary and secondary grades. We sponsor
workshops and seminars aimed at college and university faculty: past issues
include improving the use of classroom technologies. Affiliated with the
Illinois Council on Economic Education and with the National Council on
Economic Education, the Office provides the latest developments in teaching
economics and developing economic education programs.
Another focus of the Office is to provide up-to-date information and analysis
of business and economic trends. Through our links, visitors to the Office
website are able to locate data on financial markets, national and international
economic developments. If you can’t find it, just contact us. The Office
also conducts and reports on research in the areas of business and economics.
Available from our website are links to research conducted by faculty in
the School of Business at SIUE in addition to other universities. We also
provide current commentary on issues that are of special importance to the
business community. The topics covered range from issues in business management
to international finance.
