FACULTY POSITION IN FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville invites applications
for a tenure-track position in Accounting beginning in August 2006.
A Ph.D. in Accounting is required, but ABDs nearing completion will
be considered. Candidates must be qualified to teach financial accounting
at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Professional certification
and experience are desirable. SIUE School of Business programs are
accredited by AACSB International in Business and Accounting at
both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
At SIUE, good teaching is of prime importance, and all faculty
members are expected to be conscientious and dedicated teachers.
Research leading to publication is required for promotion and tenure
at SIUE. The University supports research efforts through research
grants, and by providing graduate assistants, appropriate databases,
and other resources. There is considerable support through the School
and the University for enhancing teaching skills.
SIUE’s large and attractive campus is located just 20 miles
from downtown St. Louis. The campus covers 2,700 acres of rolling
hills, heavy woods, and small lakes. The campus is only about 40
years old. The Edwardsville area is a desirable place to live, with
a diverse population combining the benefits of a small town with
those of a large city. St. Louis offers outstanding restaurants,
excellent cultural opportunities, major league sports, excellent
transportation connections, an active nightlife, and nearby recreational
opportunities. All of the major national and international CPA firms
have offices in St. Louis, and a number of the Fortune 500 have
operations in the area.
