Within the biology department is a wide range of equipment (all available for student research), including a Scanning Electron Microscope facility (with a darkroom, histology equipment, and a trained operator to assist students), a fluorescence microscope, a wide range of molecular biology equipment (including PCR machines, electroporator, DNA sequencing units, electrophoresis units, and more), HPLC, cell culture facilities, environmentally controlled growth chambers, greenhouse, infrared gas analyzer, leaf fluorescence analyzer, porometer, pressure chambers, data logging equipment, and computing facilities for statistical analysis, simulation modeling, and graphics development.
