about our graduate program. The
particulars summarized below may be of interest to you. The Department of Biological Sciences
currently offers programs leading to:
The
Master’s of Arts degree (foreign language necessary)
The
Master’s of Science degree (with either thesis or non-thesis tracks)
The
Master’s of Science in Biology Education (in cooperation with the
The
Master’s of Science in Biotechnology Management (a PSM – Professional Science
Master’s degree)
You must first apply for
admission to the
The Department of Biological
Sciences requirements include submission of GRE scores, 2 letters (minimum) of
recommendation, and a statement of your goals.
You must also be accepted by a faculty mentor, unless you are applying
to the PSM program*. To find a faculty
mentor, we recommend that prospective graduate students examine our web page (http://www.siue.edu/BIOLOGY/) to identify
individuals with whom you share common interests. Feel free to contact either individual
professors or the Graduate Committee Chairperson by phone, letter, or email if
you have questions or want to set a date for a visit.
If you are interested in a
research or teaching assistantship, please fill out the TA/RA application
included with this letter. If you are
not interested in an assistantship, please fill out the top portion and write
“DECLINED” on the form.
After all of your materials
have been received in the Department of Biological Sciences, the Biological
Sciences Graduate Committee will review your file. If approved, you will be notified of your
acceptance into our graduate program.
