Southern Illinois University
Edwardsville is a member of the
National Collegiate Athletic
Association and competes in NCAA Division
II. The Cougars
are members of the Great Lakes Valley
Conference, which hosts championships in 14 sports with 11 schools
from five states. SIUE athletic teams have established a successful tradition of athletic accomplishment, having won 17 NCAA National Championships (one in NCAA-I soccer) and one every year from 1978 to 1979. Athletic scholarships are available in all varsity sports and are awarded by the head coach. Student-athletes must fulfill the NCAA's core requirements in order to compete during their freshman year. Ask your high school counselor about these requirements and information on the application process for the NCAA Clearinghouse early in your junior year.
