November 21, 2006 SIUE Track and Field Signs Belleville's Palovcsik         EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. -- Jennifer Palovcsik (Belleville), a two-time state qualifier in the high jump, has signed a national letter of intent to compete for Southern Illinois University Edwardsville track and field.         As the reigning indoor and outdoor champion in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, Coach Dave Astrauskas looked to further diversify his team's talent. Palovcsik will give the Cougars another high jumper capable of excelling at the conference and the national level.         "We have been watching Jennifer the last couple of years, and we are very happy that she has chosen SIUE," said Astrauskas.         Palovcsik, of Belleville East High School, holds a personal record of 5-foot-7. Astrauskas said that type of jump will make her successful in the GLVC.         "Right now Jennifer's best event is the high jump, but she will be a contributor in the horizontal jumps as well," sad Astrauskas.         The 2007 SIUE track and field season begins Jan. 2 at the Missouri Indoor Invitational.         -siue cougars-
