April 29, 2008 Courtesy of GLVC Sports Information UIndy'S Schmitz, SIUE's Brown Earn Weekly Track and Field Honors           INDIANAPOLIS - Southern Illinois University Edwardsville's Deserea Brown (Flossmoor, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week and the University of Indianapolis' Amy Schmitz (Bloomington, Ind.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.           Brown, a junior sprinter for the Cougars, broke two school records at the SIUE Twilight over the weekend.           She posted a NCAA Division II automatic qualifying time of 58.53 to win the 400-meter hurdles and placed second in the 100-meter hurdles with a NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time of 14.22.           Brown, who had previously held the school record in each event, currently boasts the top time in the nation in the 400-meter hurdles and ranks first in the GLVC and 11th in the nation in the 100-meter hurdles.           Schmitz, a junior for the Greyhounds, improved her NCAA Division II automatic qualifying time in the women's hammer throw at the Stan Lyons Open over the weekend.           She posted a personal best mark of 54.65 meters in the event and placed fourth overall.           UIndy and SIUE will return to action at the GLVC Outdoor Championships on May 2-3. The Cougars, defending men and women champions, will host the event this year.           Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine's Kristen Geiger and UIndy's LeAnn Sarka.                   -siue cougars-
