COURTESY OF GLVC SPORTS INFORMATION January 15, 2008 SIUE’s Brown, Butler Named GLVC Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week Each Posts Provisional Marks at Missouri Invitational         INDIANAPOLIS – Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Deserea Brown (Flossmoor, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week and Christine Butler (Matteson, IL) is the GLVC Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.         Brown, a junior for the Cougars, won two events at the Missouri Invitational over the weekend. She captured the 60-meter hurdles with a NCAA Division II Provisional time of 8.83. Brown won the 200-meter dash in a time of 25.59.         In addition, Brown placed second in the 400-meter dash in a NCAA Division II provisional time of 57.39 and ran the anchor leg on the Cougars’ 4x400 meter relay team which posted a NCAA Division II provisional time of 3:50.73.         Brown’s 60-meter time currently ranks fifth on the NCAA Division II performance list and the relay team’s time is currently ranked second on the performance list.         Butler, a senior for SIUE, thrived in the triple jump at the Missouri Invitational for the Cougars. She placed third in the event with a jump of 11.55 meters. The jump places Butler fifth on the NCAA Division II performance list.         SIUE will next be in action on Jan. 19 at the Eastern Illinois University Mega Meet.         Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Northern Kentucky’s Julianne Hoekzema.         -siue cougars-
