April 3, 2007 DeShasier Selected GLVC Athlete of the Week         EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. -- The Great Lakes Valley Conference selected Southern Illinois University Edwardsville's Alicia DeShasier (Carrollton) as this week's female Track and Field Athlete of the Week.         DeShasier set a new meet record at the Missouri Relays with a javelin throw of 162 feet, 1 inch.         The former softball All-American was throwing in her first competition for the SIUE track and field team.         DeShasier's winning throw automatically qualified her for the NCAA Division II Championships, and it ranks first in the GLVC and in the country this outdoor season.         The throw also broke SIUE's school record of 160 feet, 4 inches which was set by the 2006 NCAA Division II National Champion Holly Noller. The throw also exceeded the 'A' standard for the 2007 U.S. Track and Field Championships.                 -siue cougars-
