June 9, 2004 Ewersmann Named Academic All-District Southern Illinois University Edwardsville runner Maria Ewersmann (St. Paul, Mo.) has been named to the College Division first team Academic All-District Women’s Track and Field/Cross Country team. As a member of the first team, Ewersmann will be placed on the national ballot possibly to become an Academic All-American by the vote of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). SIUE is placed in District IV, which includes all non-NCAA Division I schools in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, and Wisconsin as well as the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Manitoba. A speech pathology major at SIUE, Ewersmann holds a 4.000 grade point average and was SIUE’s top performer in both the 5,000-meter run and the 10,000-meter run during the outdoor track and field season. She placed fifth at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships at 10,000 meters. She also helped the cross country Cougars to a runner-up finish at the GLVC Championships. -siue cougars- |
