Benton Posts Provisional Qualifying Mark
Josh Benton, a junior from Carbondale, has set a provisional qualifying mark in the high jump for Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
Benton leaped 6 feet, 8.25 inches (2.03 meters) and placed second at the recent Saluki USA Open in Carbondale. The mark has placed him 21st on the national list for qualifying for the NCAA Division II Indoor Champioships in Boston.
Benton and his fellow Cougar teammated will have one final opportunity to improve or qualify for the national meet by competing at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Indoor Championships this Saturday at Lewis.
