Cougar Women's Soccer Signs Four For 2008
           EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville women's soccer program has signed four prep standouts for the 2008 season.
           Brittany Bodziak (Schaumburg), Kaci Harkey (Florissant, Mo.), Claire Lovercheck (Bethalto), and Devon Thomas (Brookfield) have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Cougars.
           Bodziak, a four-year standout at James B. Conant High School, will play either midfielder or back for the Cougars. She has garnered All-Conference and All-Sectional honors in each of her first three seasons at James B. Conant. She is the daughter of Bob and Diane Bodziak.
           As multi-sport athlete at Civic Memorial High School, Harkey earned varsity letters in soccer and basketball. The all-time leading goal scorer at Civic Memorial, she has led the Mississippi Valley Conference in goals in each of the last three seasons. Harkey was named first team All-Area in 2007 by the Alton Telegraph. She is the daughter of Jeff and Jill Harkey.
           Lovercheck will step into goal and push for playing time next season. At Hazelwood Central High, she earned Rookie of the Year (2005) and Most Valuable Player (2006 and 2007) honors. A three-time All-Conference and All-Metro selection, Lovercheck earned all-state honors for the first time in 2007 with a second team selection. She is the daughter of Edward and Cheryl Lovercheck.
           Thomas will bring her defensive presence to the Cougar program. As a member of the Eclipse Select Soccer Club, she was an NSR Cup U19 Finalist, Region II Championship Qualifier, Illinois State Cup Finalist, and Puma Region III Championship semi-finalist. She was a state qualifying swimmer and also has extensive Olympic Development Program experience.
