August 11, 2005 UW-Parkside Grabs Top Spot in GLVC Women’s Soccer Preseason Poll Indianapolis, IN – The University of Wisconsin-Parkside received 13 first-place votes and 169 points to claim the #1 spot in the 2005 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) women’s soccer preseason coaches’ poll. Northern Kentucky University followed in second place with one first-place vote and 153 points. The Rangers ended the 2004 season with an 18-2-0 overall record and a 9-1 conference record, earning a second straight GLVC championship. The team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division II Tournament before falling 1-0 to regional opponent Ashland. The Rangers are led by 2004 GLVC Coach of the Year Troy Fabiano. The 2005 season brings the addition of three new schools to the GLVC: Drury University, the University of Missouri-Rolla, and Rockhurst University. Conference play kicks off in September and culminates with the GLVC tournament hosted by the #1 seed at the conclusion of regular season play.
